Information on Bada Ganpati Temple Indore-
Bada Ganpati Temple is one of the most famous pilgrimage spots in Indore. It is one of the identity tourist spots of not only Indore but also of entire Madhya Pradesh state. It is also known by the name of Chintaharan Bade Ganpati Temple.
This temple is famous for the largest statue of Lord Ganesha in Asia and is believed to fulfill all the wishes of the disciples who pray here with pure heart and soul. Lord Ganesha is the first deity to be worshiped before starting any holy tasks.
This huge statue of Bada Ganpati is about 25 feet high and 14 feet wide and is the largest and heaviest sculpture of Lord Ganesha in whole Asia.
Decoration and makeup of this huge statue is done by Sava Man material or 50 kgs that includes dry fruits and Ghee.
( 1 Man = 40 kgs so Sava Man =1.25 ×40 = 50 kgs.)
It takes about 10 to 12 days for the complete decoration of this massive statue and special decorations are done on the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Preparations start eight days prior to this festival and completes on the festive day with special celebrations and Aarti.
Aarti is done only once in a year on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
History of Bada Ganpati Temple Indore-
It is said that Pandit Narayan Dadhich made this huge statue of Lord Ganesha after he saw this sculpture in his dream.
This temple and statue is said to be built in the year 1901 by Pandit Shri Narayan Dadhich and it took around 3 years for the construction of this massive sculpture.
This is made in saffron color with a combination of 8 metals (Asht Dhatu), and water and soil from various holy places and holy rivers of India.
A 500 year old small statue of Lord Ganesha is also located in front of the statue of Bada Ganpati.
Timings of Bada Ganpati Temple Indore-
The temple remains open on all the seven days of the week from 5 am to 12 noon and then from 4 pm to 8 pm.
It takes about half an hour to completely visit and explore the temple.
You should have a visit to this enchanting place and witness the aura of this huge Saffron colored idol of Lord Ganesha.
